January 1866

The Union Steamship, USS Volunteer, was set to sail north along the Mississippi and return to the Union port in Cairo, Illinois. The ship departed New Orleans, but never reached its destination in Illinois.
The Confederate states claim that the ship never left New Orleans and that the Union never had any intent of recalling the vessel. The Union places blame on the Confederacy for having seized the ship after the peacetime was declared.
Both parties are still worried about the missing asset and a search for the ship by both parties is still ongoing. Any persons with clues or information regarding the wreckage or steamship are asked to please come forward.
