A Bigger, Better Las Vegas

Zoning officials have approved space for 4 additional casinos on Arrowhead Highway. The Strip, as many locals refer to the portion of roadway, currently houses four large hotel casinos with the Sahara Sands as the most luxurious.  Allowing gambling within the city limits has attracted millions of dollars into the city and these newer larger facilities are challenging Fremont St. for popularity.  Some local citizens are voicing their concerns about too much development too fast. Some people are concerned that the casinos will be used to launder finances of reputed crime syndicates and others are concerned about other illicit habits that the casinos could attract- such as drug use and over intoxication. The Las Vegas police have proclaimed that they are in favor of new business and are confident that they can maintain the crime rate even with an influx of more tourists in the city.  It is unsure at this time who will be purchasing the newly approved lots. Negotiations between would be owners and land developers are underway.
