These are all very sensitive topics and I am going to do my best to spell things out in plain language. Please read and review this before deciding if On the Rocks is a literary based game that you’d want to participate in.
Gender
You have a gender as a player. I will not ask you about your gender during game registration or casting. On your casting survey, I will ask you questions about the gender of the character you want to play. I will ask you about the gender of the god that you want to play. I will honor your choices and preferences.
Name badges will not display your player name. Name badges will not display your gods name. Name badges will display the name of your character and your characters pronouns. As a player, please honor the choices and preferences of others.
Race
You have a race as a player. You are not allowed to change your race. You are not allowed to wear black face or tanning products to portray yourself as another race. Don’t do it. You will be ejected from the game space with no discussion or refund.
Accents
You have a voice. Depending on who listens to you speak, you have an accent. Do not put on a different accent as part of your game play. As a player, please honor your own voice and use it proudly.
Religion
This is a game about gods and mythology. This game is also about the life and death of gods. Tangentially, this game is also about religion. When writing the game, I tried to research and respect the mythological denizens of power that I added into the fiction. I tried to honor Neil Gaiman’s work as inspiration. I also tried to honor my own life and experiences in the Nevada desert. I am not a scholar by profession. I am not a religious expert. I am an artist and I did my best to paint the skeletons that you will bring to life.
During the casting process, you will have the opportunity to select which pantheons you are comfortable being cast into. If you are not comfortable with a pantheon for any reason, you do not need to tell me the reason. You can simply select out of it. I will honor your choices and preferences.
