Issues and Influence

On the Rocks is largely a game of influence. The characters in the game are trying to persuade each other, the mortals around them, and the world at large. Characters can influence other gods by talking to them. Role play with the other players at the role playing game! Characters can influence the mortal world and the larger supernatural world by interacting with Issues. 

Issues

Issues are a variety of events going on all across the world. Some issues are governmental, social, environmental, or even supernatural. Each issue that is presented in the game can be influenced. Each issue has multiple resolutions available. Players will not see the available resolutions, they will only see the issue. The corresponding resolution is revealed at the end of the game! 

FAQ

Q1. Where do I find the issues?

A1. The Issue Jars will be set up on a table in the game space. Jars will be labeled and there will be a corresponding sheet with each jar. 

Q2. How do you know what issues to interact with?

A2. All of the issues will be out and available for you to view/read. You choose which issues you want to influence and how much of your power you want to spend on the issue. 

Q3. How do I influence an issue?

A3. Issues have multiple thresholds to meet. Add Quiddity to the corresponding jar to add your influence. 

Q4. How do I thwart/stop an issue from progressing

A4. Please see a GM. You must pay 2:1 to cancel the influence of another deity. 

Q5. What happens if a resolution threshold is not met?

A5. The issue will still be resolved. The outcome may not be desirable. In true Philly fashion, “Fuck around and find out” 

Anatomy of an Issue

  1. The issue jar- It will look like a jar. You will drop poker chips (Quiddity) into the jar.
  2. The issue description- It will look like a piece of paper with text on it. You will read it.
