- 1585: The Spanish establish a mission to convert Natives to Christianity.
- 1625: The French arrest control of the Spanish settlement and rename it Rock Creek. Haitian laborers are shipped in to tend fields of sugar, coffee, and tobacco.
- 1630-1730: Rock Creek changes hands between the French and the Spanish numerous times.
- 1738: Rock Spring Mission Abandoned
- 1756: Britain gains control of the area during the French and Indian War.
- 1781: Spanish reacquire the area.
- 1783: American Revolution Ends
- 1791: Haitian rebellions takes place.
- 1793: Spain sells the lands to America.
- 1811: Town is re-established and named Rodney after a prominent government figure.
- 1815: Steampowered cotton gin invented.
- 1830: The Coyote Confederation is formed when Native Americans are forced from their lands as part of the Indian Removal Act.
- 1832: Rodney Presbyterian Church opens.
- 1835: The War of Northern Aggression Begins
- 1838: Rodney Women’s Academy opens.
- 1840: Tornado all but destroys Natchez.
- 1842: Tyler Plantation opens, largest estate in the area.
- 1850: Rodney Masonic Hall #56 opens.
- 1859: Windsor Plantation opens, replaces Tyler Plantation as largest estate in the area.
- 1863: Earthquakes rumble across all of North America.
- 1865: The United States accepts the surrender of Confederate General Lee in VA, putting an ‘end’ to the War of Northern Aggression.
- 1865: William Sharkey appointed by President Johnson to act as Governor of Mississippi.
- 1865: Freedman’s Bureau is created.
- 1866: USS Volunteer State goes missing on the Mississippi River.
- 1868: Catholic Church, Sacred Heart, is re-established in Rodney.
- 1868: Vicksburg is shelled from two steamships on the Mississippi River. The city is destroyed in an amazing fire.
